The 10 Inch Brass Miners Lamps, are patterned after the Clanny and Davy safety lamps and are made from heavy gauge solid brass.
Measures 10" tall x 3 1/2 inches in diameter and with it's substantial construction, weighs 2.5 lbs.
Hook (included as shown) add's another 2" overall height.
Also referred to as a Ship's Cabin Oil Lamp.
The lamp base is a fuel tank to supply the burner, and can be filled with kerosene or lamp oil.
The burner includes a wick and adjustment wheel for changing the height of the wick and flame as needed.

What was the Davy lamp used for?
It consists of a wick lamp with the flame enclosed inside a mesh screen. It was created for use in coal mines, to reduce the danger of explosions due to the presence of methane and other flammable gases, called firedamp or minedamp.
